My Why – WW Freestyle

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Grace, and I am a wino. I am obsessed with wine. Seriously, if I was a Care Bear, the symbol on my belly would be a glass of wine. I am also recently engaged and in the throws of planning my dream wedding to my dream man.

Throughout the planning and fantasies of how the big day will turn out, I took a long look at myself and thought “I love myself, but I am certainly not my best and healthiest self.” It is a tough reality to swallow. I had been trying Keto for over a year, but was stuck in a cycle of losing and gaining back the same 25 pounds. I found Keto an amazing lifestyle if you have the time and devotion to it, but it didn’t suit my life. This is where WW Freestyle entered my life.

I recently began my WW journey at the end of August 2019. As of 9/25/19, I am 12 pounds down, and counting. My life is pretty crazy. I work two jobs, am planning a wedding, starting a podcast, I maintain a busy household, and have a puppy under the age of 1 year. I travel almost every weekend for different life events of friends and family, and desperately need a nutrition style that can be flexible. With Keto, I would struggle to find things I wouldn’t get sick of on the road. I often ended up giving in to the burger or other fast food due to hunger and convenience. I began to look elsewhere, and was shown WW by a friend (thanks Julie!) and it turned out to be this Cinderella’s glass slipper. WW provides me the flexibility I need when eating on the go, while keeping nothing off limits if I plan accordingly (I’m looking at you wine and chocolate).

One of the questions you are asked when starting your WW journey is “What’s your ‘Why’?” In other words, what moves you to begin this health journey and will help you keep your goals. So, instead of an About Me page, I want to share with you what my “Why” is.

I will not lie when I say I would love to feel more confident in the clothes I wear, to not be self conscious about my body, and all of the other things that come with losing weight, but I want to be clear that I love myself just the way I am. I worked hard to become this kickass babe, and she is a bad betch no matter what. That being said, I want to look, feel, and be healthy.

I have been fantasizing about the future a lot lately. As they say, first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby… When I had that come to Jesus moment with myself, I realized that this man is about to pledge his life to me. We are going to create life together and they will depend on me. I want to be around and healthy enough to chase my grandkids around the house and bake cookies. I am not the best person I can be for them, but with small steps towards eating better, exercising, and still loving myself, I can be.

So join me on this healthy, but slightly drunken, journey, with me favorite new motto: Weeklies are for Wine!

    1. I think you’re my new best friend! Congrats on hitting your goal! Tequila is awesome, but I definitely wont be ordering a regular margarita anymore. Ouch to those points, but love theres skinny margs! Saves more wine for me 😉
